As the NASCAR Xfinity Series heads to Michigan International Speedway this weekend, so does Carson Kvapil with his # 88 JR Motorsports Chevrolet, leaving the Bass Pro Shops # 8 Late Model Stock seat empty for this Friday night’s AcceleratedGFX.com 285 at Ace Speedway. Ace has recently been a playground for Carson, collecting 3 zMAX CARS Tour wins there in a row. But right beside him has been his brother, Caden, grabbing up two Pro Late Model wins of his own at the same track. With his prior knowledge of the track backed up by trophies of his own, it was a no brainer to let Caden Kvapil substitute.
“I’m super pumped to make my first start in the CARS Tour LMSC division and I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to be able to fill in for my brother while he is gone.” Kvapil’s work doesn’t stop with his Late Model Stock debut. The 17 year old out of Mooresville is actively fighting for the CARS Tour Pro Late Model title, locked in a rigid battle with Spencer Davis and Kaden Honeycutt. With that comes two different mindsets and strategies for two cars, but Kvapil is prepared for what he knows is going to be a difficult and physical night.
“I’m excited to see what challenges the different cars and drivers give me as it will all be a new learning curve. Going to Ace will be a great place for me to start as well since I’ve won there twice in the Pro and know how to get around it pretty well. The fact that Carson has 3 in a row there makes it even better knowing I’ll have a great car. I can’t thank Dale, L.W., Kelley, and Bryan enough for giving me this awesome opportunity!”
Defending Pro Late Model champion Kvapil has raced everything from Micro Sprints to Super Late Models, but Friday night’s Late Model Stock foray will mark a new chapter in Caden’s career. Physical and mental stamina will be needed due to Ace’s massive usage of brakes and patience along with a humidity level of above 60% nearly the entire night. Yet judging by him leading every lap the last time he visited the four tenths Altamahaw bullring, he should be right in his element.
