Originally scheduled for April 12th, the Grand National Super Series made its first 2025 visit to Dominion Raceway on May 31st after mother nature won the first time out. After a thriller at Newport, fans were eager to see what the Woodford, Virginia speedplant had in store, and the tour certainly didn’t disappoint as AJ Henriksen once again started off the evening with a bang, taking his second straight ChaLew Performance Pole Award.

After the top six invert, Bob Schacht was initially slated to start on pole for twin 50 #1. But after a decision to keep his sixth place starting position, Chris Burns was pushed up to the top starting spot. On his outside and to the lead quick was Jamie Mosley, looking for his first career win. An emerging Henriksen quickly made his way up through the field, leading to a hard battle between he and Mosley. With such hard racing eventually came contact. Now without a left front fender, Henriksen kept his machine straight and moved to the lead. Behind, Mosley was left to deal with the rest of the field. As Henriksen began to pull away, Mosley and Kody Brusso would collide, sending both drivers around. Tempers boiled over under caution as the pair showed their displeasure with a little door banging. Once the race finally went back green, Henriksen rose above the smoke to take home the win in honor of his close friend and mentor Lou Sipolt. Avoiding the chaos and collecting a career best finish of 5th along with the first Howe Racing Enterprises Hard Charger Award is Dave Hutchinson.
The second showdown didn’t start off any calmer, as Burns once again had the privilege of starting on the point. Fighting hard for the top spot, he and Brusso clashed, sending Brusso around. This opened the door for defending champion Jeremy Mayfield to dominate the remainder of the race, grabbing his first career Dominion win and the Howe Racing Enterprises Hard Charger Award to boot.
Although most drivers left with battle scars, it just shows the will to win in the Grand National Super Series. A field full of accomplished racers from all facets of motorsports. With Tri-County Speedway on the horizon, the 2025 season is set to heat up even more in the month of June.
